A Briefer On Diabetes

Diabetes is one common health problem nowadays. Kids and adults alike can experience it. While there are a lot who don't know about it, this problem will become bigger.

It can be a simple problem at the beginning but when things are not controlled it can worsen and can lead to a lot of complications. That is why getting informed about the symptoms of diabetes info and all other treatment and figures is really very important. Here's a quick briefer on the disease, its symptoms and a lot more.

Defining terms

There are some important terms that you need to understand in order to have a full grasp of what the disease is all about. Here are some of the most important words:

* Metabolism- is the process in which the body breaks down the food we eat in order to get all the nutrients and pass them on to the different parts of the body.

* Glucose- is what we call sugar which is used by the body. This is the main ingredient for cell nourishment.

* Insulin-is the hormone from the pancreas which serves as an agent for the absorption of nutrients from the blood. This lowers the level of glucose in the blood.

What is diabetes?

It is a disorder concerning metabolism which causes an increase in blood sugar levels. this can be caused either by the lack of production of insulin or the unresponsiveness of the cells to the prompts of the insulin. Thus, sugar does not reach the cells but stays in the blood. This causes various problems and can get even worse if untreated. Some have organ failure or loss of limbs.

What are the symptoms of diabetes?

Those who were not yet able to get diagnosed may experience a few symptoms. Some experience nausea and vomiting. Patients also experience increased risk in skin and other infections. Weight loss despite increased appetite is also common in diabetic individuals. Tests would show an increased level of sugar in the blood and urine. There are also some who would have failing vision, and in worst cases lethargy and coma.
