Are You Suffering From Diabetes?

By Karl Munojeriey

If there are hot trends in fashion, cars, and many others, there's also a hot trend in diseases that is becoming very popular and common today - diabetes.

Diabetes is simply a disease in which blood glucose levels are above normal because the body either doesn't make enough insulin or can't use its own insulin as well as it should which results to build up of sugar in your blood.

There are actually two variations of diabetes, caused by entirely different factors. The first one is Type 1 Diabetes which is an auto-immune disease where the body's immune system destroys the insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas. The second type is Type 2 Diabetes which is the most common form that is characterised by insulin resistance and relative insulin deficiency.

The first kind of Diabetes has been found to result from viruses destroying pancreas and beta cells, experience of stress and the taking in of harmful medications. The reasons people experience type 2 Diabetes are quite unique from the first type. The causes of the Type 2 Diabetes are increased blood pressure and level of cholesterol plus genetic inclinations.

Whatever type of diabetes it may be, the symptoms are actually just similar. You will find information about the symptoms of diabetes if you read along. The first one is increased frequency in urination. Increased glucose in the blood can prompt a person to increase urination. One more sign is extreme thirst.

This is because the person would need to replace the liquid that is constantly produced from the body because of constant voiding. If you are also frequently hungry, then you might also be suffering from diabetes. This happens because your cells are not getting the energy they need so your body reacts by finding more energy in food. Other than activating hunger, the body will also try to get the energy stores present in the body which can result to sudden loss of weight. This means that muscle tissue and fat is converted to energy.

The result of the inadequate energy delivered to the cells is also increased fatigue which can make you more irritable. Another sign that is evident when you have diabetes is the inability of cuts and bruises to heal promptly. This happens because the increased sugar in the body can halt the healing process. Too much glucose in the body can also affect the nerves, thus the numbness or tingling, especially in your feet and hands.

These are just the most common symptoms of diabetes. If you have one or more of the symptoms mentioned above, then it is best to go to a physician right away.
